Jacquelyn Maye-Johnson:  Mixed Media

I am a self taught artist.  I consider myself merely a vessel who is being utilized to create instinctively.  The most important goal is to make a profound aesthetic statement.  My subjects include women, children and families.  I work with vivid colors and symbols, and my pieces have an aesthetic value as well as tell a story through symbolism.  I often incorporate fabrics, beads, jewelry and mosaic pieces into my paintings.  While I work in a variety of mediums: wood, clothing, silk painting and glass, I continue to explore and add more versatility to my skills, for my art is not confined to any one style or influence.

My Exhibitions Include:

     Community Folk Art Center

     Everson Museum of Art

Local fine art and craft shows
